Paul Ornstein

Dr. Ornstein is a graduate of the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. He is Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis, a Training and Supervising Analyst of the Cincinnati Psychoanalytic Institute, and a Supervising Analyst at BPSI. He is also a member of the faculty at PINE. Dr. Ornstein has written extensively about the process of psychoanalytic psychotherapy, the process of psychoanalysis, and the interpretive process in both psychotherapy and psychoanalysis -- much of this jointly with his wife, Anna Ornstein. In addition he has written numerous clinical and theoretical papers from the perspective of psychoanalytic self psychology. His main interest is focused on the clinical aspects of the psychoanalytic psychotherapies. He co-authored Focal Psychotherapy-An Example of Applied Psychoanalysis with Michael and Enid Balint. He edited and introduced The Search for the Self--Selected Writings of Heinz Kohut volumes I through IV.
